Email Operations and Optimization Lab

A planned workspace for campaign preparation and interpretable reporting.

Planned / Local demonstration not yet available

01

The problem

A campaign needs clear preparation checks and metrics with understandable denominators.

02

My role

Independent portfolio project. I own the concept, content, implementation, and verification scope.

03

The planned approach

Typed fixtures and deterministic rules will remain separate from presentation and any future platform connection.

  • Make permission and exit decisions explicit.

04

The planned solution

A planned campaign checklist and reporting workspace connecting content checks, links, accessibility, audience preparation, and clearly defined metrics.

05

Expected results

Success will mean a reviewer can identify an incomplete campaign check, understand the next action, and trace each reported rate to its underlying inputs. Test scenarios will cover missing data, invalid inputs, and empty reporting states.

06

Learning goals

Develop a repeatable campaign review process and explain metrics in language that supports decisions. Document which checks benefit from automation and which still need human review.

07

Evidence to build

The campaign preparation problem

A campaign can have strong creative work and still be difficult to review. Links, audience rules, personalization, and reporting definitions need a shared place in the preparation process. This planned lab will turn those checks into an inspectable workflow.

A repeatable review process

The planned checklist will cover content, links, responsive layout, accessibility, audience selection, and send preparation. Each check will have a clear result and a place to explain what needs attention. The existing email examples will provide concrete material for the review interface.

Reporting that explains its numbers

The reporting view will use sample data with explicit metric definitions and denominators. Visitors should be able to understand what a rate represents, what period it covers, and which records contribute to it. The emphasis is on interpreting the result rather than displaying a dashboard of unexplained percentages.

What I will build

  • A campaign preparation checklist with actionable review states.
  • A sample campaign dataset and documented metric definitions.
  • A reporting view that explains calculations and empty data states.
  • Tests for validation rules, calculations, and incomplete inputs.

Connection to the broader portfolio

This lab will bring the email development and lifecycle projects together. The same preparation habits should apply whether a message is part of a newsletter, a HubSpot nurture workflow, or a Klaviyo commerce flow.

Next steps

  • Implement and test the planned local demonstration.
  • Collect platform evidence separately.
